Reach Truck
A reach truck is used to store pallets of goods, supplies, and to keep storage places tidy. The reach truck is available in several kinds: the stand-up reach, double-deep reach and straddle reach.
The stand-up is the most basic. The truck forks slide under the pallet and move it to the right storage location. The forks slide the pallet into place. This kind of reach truck is suitable when shelving units are just one pallet in depth.
Ideal for workplaces where the shelving units are deep enough to accommodate two pallets of goods, the double-deep reach truck, which is like the stand-up, is usually used. This particular model consists of telescopic forks intended to put the pallet at the back of the shelving unit. This saves having to push the pallet back when one more pallet should go into the same shelving section.
The additional advantage of straddle reaches is that they could both slide beneath the pallet and grasp the sides also. These are recommended for workplaces where shelving units are accessible in many directions. This model is ideal in conditions where goods will not be damaged if the sides of the pallet are grabbed.
In nearly all warehouses, there are usually more than one type of reach truck. Manufacturing facilities and textile companies utilize different kinds of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not hard to operate and could increase productivity while making the most of available storage space.
