In the year 1966, Bud Bushnell founded Genie Industries. During that time, he bought the manufacturing rights to a material lift which operated on compressed air. The name Genie came from the "magic in the bottle" that was used to lower and raise the hoist. This device greatly impressed clients and thus, the name was born.
Genie has moved into many new markets, since the need for lifts and work platforms grew. Over time, when the requirements for new machinery to meet many applications grew, the company made itself known in numerous new markets. For instance, Genie went into production with telehandlers, stick booms, light towers, man-lifts and articulated booms.
Due to the economic slump during the start of the 2000s, Genie decided to obtain a partner who held the same values. They partnered up along with Terex Corporation. This company has a history acquiring machine manufacturers throughout the globe who proved to be a good business match. Genie Industries was sold in the year 2002 and became a part of Terex Corporation.
During the early years after the sale, it was decided to maintain the Genie brand name within the Terex Aerial Work Platforms or AWP segment of Terex, due to the name's solid reputation within the marketplace. Therefore, all Genie equipment continue to be sold under the Genie brand.
Genie takes pride in listening to their clients. The company is dedicated to continually improving quality and efficiency and is also dedicated to lessening waste. Even long after the sale has been closed, the company concentrates on providing outstanding support. These are the very work disciplines that have made Genie a trusted brand name over the last decades and continue to keep their reputation for quality and top-of-the-line equipment.
Genie's DC and Bi-Energy machines are emission-free, quiet equipment capable of working in delicate work settings. Where the machinery has to be driven significant distances, like in industrial situations, the Genie bi-energy system combines the power of a diesel-powered generator along with the benefits of a 48V DC machine.
Telescopic booms offer greater horizontal reach, as opposed to any of the various aerial platforms. These equipment are ideal for small areas or limited access areas in all types of environments. The Genie Telescopic S booms have been designed to offer utmost productivity. These machines provide supreme traction and the drive speed you require to be able to travel around the job area and work site.
