When the time comes to select the appropriate warehouse truck, it is a great idea to figure out how high you intend to raise your loads, how much you have to lift, how much space you need to work in and how far you would like to travel. These factors will influence your purchasing decision and help decipher what kind of forklift truck is truly the best one out there to meet all your needs and meet your whole expectations.
Normal Aisles
The most economical trucks are pedestrian stackers. These equipment are ideal for working in normal width aisles and completing regular stacking tasks inside a warehouse. They are capable of easily lifting cargo of less than 750kg and can stack them to heights of around 4.5 metres. Another type called rider stackers could successfully lift loads to around 6 metres.
Reach trucks are yet a different choice to consider. They give you much greater lift and load capacities and some models come complete with telescopic forks. This characteristic enables you the ability of stacking pallets two deep. For added flexibility in goods handling, there is a multi-way and a 4-way reach truck which as the name implies, could be driven in four directions. These models are particularly suitable for handling long and bulky things like boards, piping and planks.
The counterbalance line of trucks is suitable for traveling longer distances. They are a great option for stacking jobs, especially block stacking. They are also a great option for free stacking and stacking cargo that weigh more than 2 tonnes.
A Tight Squeeze
If you are working in a high-density storage operation, the aisle space will usually be a lot narrower and the heights you would want to reach to will possibly be a lot higher. Man-up telescopic lift trucks work great in narrow aisle, high-bay stores. They provide the driver or operator a good view of the stacking process. There are other models called man-up combi trucks. These are quite versatile in that they could be utilized for both order- picking and stacking jobs. They could be used in narrow aisles or driven all over the warehouse.
