Forklift Tires
When it comes to installation types, there are two kinds regarding forklift tires: press on and standard. Typically, press on tires are utilized on electric forklifts and those types of forklifts operating in indoor applications like warehouses. The press on tires can be utilized also in light industrial application too.

Standard tires are mainly used on forklifts that operate in outdoor environment or where rough or uneven surfaces need tougher tires and more traction.

There are a lot of different kinds of forklift tires just as there are lots of different kinds of forklifts. The types of tires that are most commonly utilized are solid, polyurethane and pneumatic. The kind of tires are dictated by what and where the forklift is used for. It is really essential to get the correct tires for the task and ensuring the proper pick will have a big impact on both performance and safety.

For outdoor forklifts which need to operate in an all-terrain atmosphere like on a construction site, the best alternative will be pneumatic tires. These are constructed out of durable rubber and then filled with air, similar to a truck or tractor tire. Pneumatic tires create an air cushion between the terrain and the forklift itself. This particular design considerably lessens the wear and tear on the equipment and creates a very comfortable ride for the operator. The deep, thick treads on the tires give the necessary traction required for use on surfaces that are rough and uneven.

For light industrial use, both indoors and outdoors, solid tires are suitable. They are fabricated out of constructed solid, tough rubber. This helps them to stay safer from blowouts, popping like pneumatic tires or damage because of puncture wounds. Because these tires are not filled with air, they can not provide the cushion effect. This fact makes them unsuitable for use on rough terrain. Some solid tires are constructed with holes in the sidewalls to provide a rather softer ride. The only problem is that this type of construction makes the forklift's load carrying capacity less.

Though they are designed for indoor warehouse applications only, polyurethane forklift tires would usually outlast both rubber tire designs. The load capacity of polyurethane is a lot higher compared to a rubber tire. These tires work great with well with electric forklifts due to the additional weight of the equipment's batteries. Because of the tire's lower rolling resistance, another benefit of this type of tire is the extended battery life.
