Boom lifts would usually offer powered and wheeled bases which can drive itself to the work place and have a platform on them to elevate the workers. There are many different types of lifts and each and every one is suitable to different jobs and environment.
Bucket Trucks
Bucket trucks, that are normally referred to as "cherry-pickers", carry a long boom that has a bucket connected at the end. This bucket area is where an employee may stand. Commonly, bucket trucks are used by landscapers and by utility workers. Landscapers often utilize these equipment to trim trees.
Bucket trucks are outfitted with a boom assembly that is mounted on a regular truck, and this means these lifts are able to travel on roads at regular traffic speeds. This mobility really increases the area they could efficiently service. This is especially essential for power companies. For instance, many of these businesses use cherry pickers to elevate workers up so they could reach and work on transmission lines. The buckets must be regularly checked and insulated well as they are working close to potential shock hazards.
Knuckle lifts or articulated boom lifts include a work platform mounted to an arm which can bend and reach obstacles. The base of the lift contains a turntable and can turn the lift in a complete circle. The base of the lift is mounted on wheels also for extra mobility.
Articulated boom lifts are used for landscaping projects and are useful for maintenance work on already-completed projects that do not need easy access to the area right beneath the jobsite. These lifts can be used to repair piping or exterior electrical work, and areas that are hard to clean. Normally knuckle lifts are driven by the employee in the platform with the boom extended.
