Aisle Types
Lift trucks are classified due to the kinds of aisles they have been designed to work in. Wide Aisle and Narrow Aisle lift trucks are designed to turn in the aisle, whilst Very Narrow Aisle trucks actually don't turn within the aisle. There are some aisle widths to take into consideration with various units.
VNA or Very Narrow Aisle trucks work in less than 6 feet areas and often utilize particular guidance systems like optical, rail or wire systems in order to travel within the aisles. Some different models of VNA trucks include Swing Masts, Order Selectors and Turret Trucks. These are common models in compact retail spaces and in some warehouse and storage situations.
Narrow Aisle or NA trucks are able to operate within aisles which are 8 feet to 10 feet. Generally these are stand-up models like Reach Trucks. They are usually used in storage facilities and warehouses.
The wide aisle forklift is designed to work within aisles more than 8 feet to 10 feet.
Stand-Up Ergonomics
The stand-up ergonomics include "Ergomat" padding with a sloped floorboard that is designed to reduce operator fatigue by absorbing vibration. The operator compartment is large and has an 8" low step height that helps reduce overall body fatigue by easing frequent exit and entry. The unit includes polyurethane steer tires to absorb shocks and vibration caused by uneven floor in order to allow smooth traveling. For additional comfort, there is a cushioned armrest and floor mat along with a backrest designed to help keep operators comfortable and thus more effective while limiting exhaustion.
