Inventor Jerome Case established the company of CASE within Racine, when he began the construction of threshing machines. Later the company gained recognition globally as the initial maker of steam engines for its agricultural application. Eventually, the company grew to become the world's biggest maker of steam engines.
By the year 1912, Case had become established within the construction equipment business. The rapidly began to make road building machines such as steam rollers and graders. Case grew their construction equipment company through different acquisitions, beginning with the American Tractor Corporation in the year 1957. Case had expanded their company by the middle part of the 1990s to become the leading manufacturer of light-sized to medium-sized construction machinery.
Case merged with the corporation New Holland in the year 1999 and together they became CNH Global. This business became responsible for marketing several of the world's top brands of agricultural and construction equipment.
Case has been responsible for a lot of industry firsts, while continuing to this day to take a role creating new solutions and products for the materials handling industry.
