Motorized Pallet Truck
A Motorized Pallet Truck usually goes by other names including: Walkie-Rider, Rider or Walkie. These pieces of equipment are essentially a motorized version of a pallet jack. They are available in both "Walkie" models as well as "Rider" versions.
Like what the name implies, the walkie model is designed for the operator to walk along with the unit while they transport loads. The Rider model however, uses a small platform wherein the operator stands on. The rider models are great for frequent moving of loads over extended distances within manufacturing operations and warehouses. They are really fast and maneuverable.
It is important to remember that there is no safety cage on this model and thus, it is not recommended to transport tall or unstable loads with these equipment. A rider can be the right answer if you are looking for a cheap method for transporting loads from one place to another. If though, you are required to move heavy loads short distances, and prefer to utilize a more employee-friendly unit rather than a pallet jack, the walkie model can be the right choice.
Order Selector
The order picker or order selector is a piece machine designed particularly for manual handling of less-than-pallet-load quantities in racking. There are fixed forks attached to a platform in the Man-up design. This particular platform elevates both the load and the operator in an effort to facilitate manual loading and unloading from racking areas.
Order Selectors are typically very narrow aisle vehicles which could function in aisles of less than six feet. They are really useful pieces of equipment in cycle counting situations as well as during physical inventories. Order selectors are available in lift heights up to 40 feet high, although models which range in the 20 to 30 foot range are much more common.
