How to Charge a Scissor Lift
There is a great ease when utilizing a scissor lift, because the convenience of working and the lift basket's safety gives peace of mind when trying to perform tasks that would have otherwise required working off the step of a ladder. The safety risks involved with this equipment make it the right option for performing jobs from heights.
Most scissor lifts are operated by batteries that are internally mounted inside the lift's base. These batteries have to be charged after a long shift or due to sitting after extended periods without use. It is an easy task to charge the batteries. This can be carried out without any particular tools or equipment and needs no heavy labor.
In order to prepare the scissor lift for charging, park the machinery near an electrical outlet. Make sure you are doing this in a well-ventilated place. Next, in order to avoid another operator from driving away with the lift plugged in, press the emergency shut-off switch. The emergency shut off switch is the big red button situated near the charger or the control box, inside the basket of the lift. Find the battery charger on the base of the lift on the right side. Normally, older units will have the charger mounted on the back of the lift.
Then, plug the charger into the AC extension cord. Be sure you are charging in an area that is well ventilated and next plug the extension cord into an electrical outlet. So as to avoid accidental damage from being run over, the length of the electrical cord on the battery charger is purposely short. This is because if any excess length were to drop out of the battery charger storage area when in use, extreme danger could potentially occur.
